Proposal
This is a proposal for establishing a shared online gallery between two schools across the globe. It would connect two art classes from across two continents and would be a collaborative effort between the students and teachers of both schools. The intention would be that the project be integrated into the curriculum and incorporate the art practices of both communities. The goal of the project would be to build real-life applications for art studies. The knowledge and skills built from this enterprise would ultimately benefit the overall education of the student and be translatable to other domains of study. Such attributes as learning to collaborate, communicate on many levels, value cultural differences, develop flexible and critical thinking skills, as well as to promote creativity would be naturally involved in an enterprise such as this. As such it would fulfill social constructivist criteria of meaningful and authentic learning experiences.
This project will give students the experience and confidence in developing and maintaining cross-national partnerships that will prove useful in their future as the world shrinks and international relationships expand. In conjunction with this, it will allow growth for the students' artistic ability and artistic thinking practices.
